Kitchen in the Desert is a Caribbean and New American restaurant situated just outside the Twentynine Palms entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, located on a property with rich history and unmistakable charm. We pride ourselves in making high quality food from scratch using fresh ingredients and providing a comfortable environment to enjoy it in.
Our cuisine is inventive and executed to standards that would be at home in any urban setting. We provide an experience that is rare in this rural area, but welcomed by locals and visitors alike. Now in our fifth year, we continue to welcome guests from all over the world.
If you're leaving or entering the national park through the Twentynine Palms entrance, we're just across highway 62 on Mesquite Avenue. We're open 7 days a week.
7 days a week — 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

We're happy to offer full service dining and a full list of cocktails. Our property has plenty of space to stretch out on with multiple seating areas. We have plenty of shade during the day and plenty of warmth by the fires at night.
Reservations are encouraged, especially for groups. Parties larger than 10 cannot be accommodated during normal business hours— please contact us for catering & special events.
Kitchen in the Desert has been displaying Caribbean roots to a Western audience since 2016. We pull inspiration from Trinidadian family recipes, making all of our dishes and sauces with whole, raw ingredients to standards that respect authentic island food.
Many of our meats are grilled or smoked outside over Mesquite hardwood. We are also proud to serve numerous Vegan and Vegetarian options. Our menu is kept concise and is continually evolving to guarantee everything we serve is as fresh as possible. Come back often to experience the evolution of our standing menu, as well as our nightly or weekly specials.
Built in 1947, known as Tintown, our property has historic significance and charming character. Decorated in part like a desert attraction, with retired mining equipment and murals that tell the story of the first to harvest precious metals from these lands, and part like an oasis with plenty of vegetation and a tropical patio setting, we're happy to be part of the history and future or Twentynine Palms.
We're undergoing a full renovation, with an operating motel & restaurant as well as an exciting private venue for weddings and events. This property is perfect for a unique desert getaway or just an afternoon outside.
